Scheduled Maintenance Today

We’re planning maintenance between 11am and 3pm ET today.

It shouldn’t take all that time, but Trackur may be offline during that period.

Why are we going offline? To quote Top Gun: “I could tell you, but then I would have to kill you!”

In other words, it’s BIG and it’s EXCITING!

Thanks for your patience!

Unscheduled Maintenance: July 8 – Finished

UPDATE: OK, so our techs have fixed the issue. We promised a fix in 2 hours, but managed to get it done in 11 minutes. Yay us!

———

At 9:30pm ET on July 8th, we rebooted the Trackur database and were treated to some pretty nasty error messages.

Yeah, they were ugly. While we sanitize everything with Lysol, we’ve taken the dashboard offline. Don’t worry, we won’t miss anything and we should have the dashboard back online in the next two hours.

Thanks for your patience.

New Trackur Site, New Dashboard, New White-Labeling

From this point out, our Trackur Tracking blog will be used for system updates and other important notices.

Why?

Because any new features will be shared on our new blog. Like this one:

White-Labeled Social Media Monitoring Dashboard Launches

Oh, and we have a new site and improved dashboard. ;-)

Upgrades (& Downtime) on Saturday June 12

We want to let you know about something that’s a rare occurrence at Trackur: upcoming downtime.

Starting at noon EST on Saturday June 12th, we will be taking the Trackur dashboard offline. Unfortunately, there’s no way around the downtime, but I’ll explain why it’s happening and the huge benefits that will come from it.

First, why Trackur’s going offline. We have some major feature upgrades planned for 2010 and unfortunately our current server just doesn’t make the grade. So, we’re having to migrate to a new server. That means moving everything. Yes, everything. Imagine if you’d lived in your current house for 2+ years and then realized you’d outgrown it and needed to move. A move like that takes a lot of time and effort. Accordingly, this migration involves moving lots of very large files. While we move everything, any new saved searches or modifications you made would not show up on the new server, so it’s best that we just shutdown the dashboard while we make the switch. Unfortunately, this could take as much as 10 hours to complete–which is why we’re doing the move on a Saturday. Rest assured that all of your data will be backed-up and moved.

OK, so the benefits. They’ll be a noticeable improvement for all Trackur users, but aside from the cosmetic changes the new site will better allow us to add all of the cool features you’ve been asking for. Our Agency partners will particularly like the new features we’ll immediately launch. More on that after the switch. ;-)

My apologies for the unavoidable downtime. Rest assured we’ll work to get Trackur back online as quickly as possible and we hope this rare occurrence will result in a better Trackur for everyone.

PS. If you have any questions about this event, please leave them in our official support forum. Thanks!

UPDATE: At 12:10 EST Saturday June 12th, we started the upgrade. The dashboard will be offline for a few hours. We are working to ensure a quick return to full operation and appreciate your patience during this complex task.

UPDATE 2: 6:10pm EST Saturday. We’re still about 5 hours away from completing the migration. The biggest slowdown is simply the size of the database we need to import to the new server. Thanks for your patience!

UPDATE 3: 11:30pm EST. Good news! The migration is complete and we are preparing to bring the Trackur dashboard back online. It should be live for all users over the course of the next hour. Thank you again for your patience. We hope you enjoy the upgrades we’ve made.

UPDATE 4: 9:00am EST Sunday. While the new Trackur dashboard is now online for everyone, some users may find that the results are slow to load. We’re looking to optimize the database and improve the performance for those effected.

Corrected: Saved Searches Not Updating

Update: As of 11:30am ET, we are starting to see saved searches and alerts function normally. It may take another hour or two before we cycle through all 18,000+ Trackur customers. We will continue to work with RackSpace to ensure this issue is fully resolved and prevent it from happening again. Thanks for your patience.Andy———Some users may experience a lack of updates to their dashboard and alerts. While we don’t want to pass the buck, this issue has been traced back to Rackspace (our hosting company). Our engineers spent the night working with Rackspace to resolve the issue. As soon as we have a fix in place, we will update this post.We apologize for the inconvenience.

Unplanned Database Update

March 17 (10:20am ET) – We are currently updating Trackur’s database and search results will be degraded during this time. We suspect that an Irish Leprechaun is using St. Patrick’s day as an excuse to play games on us! :-) We hope to have this finished in the next hour. Thanks for your patience.Status Normal: Everything is back online and you should see results updating as normal.

New & Improved Email Alerts

We’ve improved our email alerts. Not only do they look a lot “prettier” but Enterprise & Agency plans can now switch to just one daily email and decide which time of day to receive it!You’ll find the option under the Edit Profile dashboard. We have more exciting improvements to announce soon!

New Video Tutorials

We’ve been busy recording brief video tutorials to explain each of Trackur’s features. The first group is now online and you can view them here.

Improved Domain Exclusion for Trackur Agency Users

We’re delighted to roll out a new and improved Excluded Domains console for our Agency plan clients.

Now you’re able to manage excluded domains–spam sites, duplicate content, etc–globally across all client profiles, while giving your clients the ability to exclude domains for just their account.

This is how it works.

From the Exclude Domains link, you’ll now see a drop down list. The Global Exclude list lets you upload a list of domain names that you’d like to exclude across every single profile in your Agency account. It looks like this:

globalexclude.png

You can then select a client Profile from the drop down and–optionally–exclude domain names for just that client profile. They’ll have their own list, which looks like this:

profile.png

Here’s the cool part. Only the master Agency account will see the list of Global Exclude domains–so you can filter out results without your clients knowing what’s been excluded. However, both the Agency account and the Profile will see the list of excluded domains that are unique to that Profile and either user can add or remove these domains. With this option, you give your clients the control to add their own list of excluded domains. And, of course, you can exclude a domain on the fly, by clicking the red “x” on any result.

We hope you’ll find this new feature valuable. You may also notice that Trackur is no longer mentioned inside the Agency dashboard–further allowing you to white-label your social media monitoring! :-)

We have many more new features in the pipeline and will keep you updated as we roll them out!
