We want to let you know about something that’s a rare occurrence at Trackur: upcoming downtime.
Starting at noon EST on Saturday June 12th, we will be taking the Trackur dashboard offline. Unfortunately, there’s no way around the downtime, but I’ll explain why it’s happening and the huge benefits that will come from it.
First, why Trackur’s going offline. We have some major feature upgrades planned for 2010 and unfortunately our current server just doesn’t make the grade. So, we’re having to migrate to a new server. That means moving everything. Yes, everything. Imagine if you’d lived in your current house for 2+ years and then realized you’d outgrown it and needed to move. A move like that takes a lot of time and effort. Accordingly, this migration involves moving lots of very large files. While we move everything, any new saved searches or modifications you made would not show up on the new server, so it’s best that we just shutdown the dashboard while we make the switch. Unfortunately, this could take as much as 10 hours to complete–which is why we’re doing the move on a Saturday. Rest assured that all of your data will be backed-up and moved.
OK, so the benefits. They’ll be a noticeable improvement for all Trackur users, but aside from the cosmetic changes the new site will better allow us to add all of the cool features you’ve been asking for. Our Agency partners will particularly like the new features we’ll immediately launch. More on that after the switch.
My apologies for the unavoidable downtime. Rest assured we’ll work to get Trackur back online as quickly as possible and we hope this rare occurrence will result in a better Trackur for everyone.

UPDATE: At 12:10 EST Saturday June 12th, we started the upgrade. The dashboard will be offline for a few hours. We are working to ensure a quick return to full operation and appreciate your patience during this complex task.
UPDATE 2: 6:10pm EST Saturday. We’re still about 5 hours away from completing the migration. The biggest slowdown is simply the size of the database we need to import to the new server. Thanks for your patience!
UPDATE 3: 11:30pm EST. Good news! The migration is complete and we are preparing to bring the Trackur dashboard back online. It should be live for all users over the course of the next hour. Thank you again for your patience. We hope you enjoy the upgrades we’ve made.
UPDATE 4: 9:00am EST Sunday. While the new Trackur dashboard is now online for everyone, some users may find that the results are slow to load. We’re looking to optimize the database and improve the performance for those effected.
